There have been several waves of the opioid epidemic, each more fatal than the last. The COVID-19 epidemic exacerbated mortality from overdose; however many factors contribute to varying risks of death by opioid overdose. Due to this invariability, providing appropriate solutions requires more flexibility and thought for certain populations, like those in the rural community.
